LoveShackFancy Didn't Just Open the Door - They Gave Girls the Floor

Okay, my complete dream is to work here. Not even kidding.

Even the president is wearing the jeans. I'm obsessed.

She has the coolest job EVER...she decides collabs with any brand you can think of...

Look, our name is on the wall. I can't believe we get to be here.

Snippets of conversations I heard last week as 24 high school Être members stormed the NYC offices of LoveShackFancy and collaborated directly with President Stacy Lilien and execs like Nikki Fasciglione, Jaime Feldman, Olivia Wallace, Erin Schaut and Brianna Halpern.

It was a sight to see.

From the moment doors opened and girls glimpsed the flower-laden, ribbon-strewn room, phones rose as jaws dropped.

It looks EXACTLY like the stores, they exclaimed, but better!

It was better because the LoveShackFancy team had pulled out the stops for our visit - fashioning an eighth floor showroom into a working boardroom complete with smoothies, gift bags and a mentor-packed agenda.

Who did girls meet and what did they talk about?

LoveShackFancy Director of VIP & Events Nikki Fasciglione kicked off the day by walking the group through the brand's history and her own career journey. Then she handed the mic to LoveShackFancy President Stacy Lilien, who spotlit different company inflection points over the last ten years before opening the floor to questions. All the questions.

What did girls ask?

Um, everything. From how do internships work to how far out do you plan collections...from where are your newest stores opening (hint: Boston the next day) to who decides how collabs work, hands stayed up and pencils flew during the first Q&A.

And that was only the beginning. As Jaime Feldman expanded on business development and partnerships and execs like Olivia Wallace, Erin Schaut and Brianna Halpern added insight regarding print design and collaboration processes, girls' interest only grew.

By the time our bespoke collaboration exercise began, ideas were flowing and the room's volume was turned all the way up.

Dividing the group into smaller working sessions, the LoveShackFancy team explained that they wanted Être's input as to future dream collaborations - who should we partner with, what demographic would it serve, how could it be marketed and where should we start? Do you think, our new mentors asked, you could brainstorm a bit and then pitch us your ideas?

Say no more.

Returning to their seats after lightning-fast break-out sessions, groups of girls began to pitch collaboration ideas directly to LoveShackFancy execs - all of whom glanced delightedly at each other as they nodded with their chins toward the front of the room.

Être girls were on their game.

Which brands did they suggest as dream collaborators? I can't say - that's confidential. What I can say is that concept after concept and idea after idea landed with applause in the room and possibility in the air.

Designs were sketched, purchaser profiles were imagined and market entry was considered - all with thoughtful brand fluency that belied their age. I'd buy that, I thought to myself again and again, and I couldn't have been prouder.

What happened after the pitches?

A full tour of the NYC headquarters, including Stacy's office where a working session was going on, their design studio where magic was taking place and hallways crammed with the most gorgeous vintage pieces imaginable. More mentors were met and more inspo was gained - all fodder for future vision boards and brainstorms.

How much time do we have, I heard one girl whisper to another, I have so many ideas!

Same, I thought to myself, because this boardroom visit was different. Special in a meaningful way.

LoveShackFancy didn't just open the door...they gave girls the floor. And by asking the next generation to collaborate and pitch face to face with executives, these mentors made space for new ideas and emboldened girls to speak them into existence.

Do brands truly care what their audience has to say? LoveShackFancy does - and their senior team is listening hard. Will the girls who attended last week be more confident to speak up in class, call a new play on the field or dream up a new product?

I think they will.

This was the best day EVER, someone said as elevator doors closed.

It was, indeed, I thought as I mentally sent the thanks of grateful girls.

Looking forward to the next boardroom we storm,

Illana
